April, 2014. Finished up the 120 rail joiners and continued on with the new rollers for the rail bender.
May, 2014. Broach for the new rollers and leveling the bridge and putting the track panels on.
June, 2014. Started on the south loop.
July, 2014. Installing the south loop, built the ditch bridge #2 and installed and built the side trusses for the Little Swale bridge.
Aug, 2014. Finished up the south loop with ballast. Then started on the north loop. Laid out the one of the switches and built another. Also broached out the keyways slots in the new rollers and installed in the rail bender. Then bent the rail. Oh, and built a small trestle, to maybe use for loading/unloading?
Sept, 2014. Built curve track panels with the bent Bob Fruitt rail. Ran out of track screws and ordered more. While waiting, stained the trestle, worked on getting the right springs for the switch throws and finished up installing the two switches. Then continued on with the north loop. Also had to make another 60 rail joiners.
Oct, 2014. Took some pictures of the train tracks for a book to show people. Went and got more ballast (crusher-run) and continued on with working on the north loop.
Nov, 2014. Built another ditch bridge and installed. Then finished up the ballast and we had our first visitor. We think he was looking for the train to ride. Then welded up a horn frame and brazed up two more switch stands. Finished up with putting down grass patch in the cut by the drive, put step stones between the rail and the garden and installed track screw where I missed them when I cut in the switch by the garden. Then the SNOW!!!!!!
Dec, 2014. Slow month, finished up a simple sheet metal bending brake from an article by Ron Geppert in the Aug/Sept 2014 Machinist's Workshop magazine that I had started a month ago, made a wood box to cover the upstairs air conditioner, a wood frame for a radiator cover for the upstairs radiator and painted some of the parts for three new switch throws. Oh and Christmas, can't forget that!
