Shop, Metal.
This is the metal shop equipment we have at the Chemung & Ridgeberry RR.
Central Machine Mill/Lathe.
Jan, 2013. This is our Mill/Lathe. It is a Central Machine (old Harbor Freight). I purchased it used from a dealer up in Rochester when I lived in Henrietta, NY. Not a bad machine but takes time to change over from one operation to the other.
I had added this depth dial indicator to the mill head, but had not posted pictures, so here they are.
Dec, 2017. Have never liked the cross compound feed on this lathe. It was a rod inserted into a hole in the outside diameter of the dial. Very clumsy to use. So, looked into how to add a handle and came up with this design. Plus it can be removed if I need the extra space.
Jet 12x36 Lathe.
Got this from a used dealer in Webster, NY. after selling my motorcycle.
Millrite 8x32 Mill.
Got this from the same used dealer in Webster, NY. that I got the lathe from. Actually got this first and then the lathe. Not as big as a Bridgeport, about 3/4 size.
Dec, 2015. Built some way covers for the table.
ENCO 6 Inch Band Saw.
Got this a long time ago. Probably about 2001. Had it in my garage in Henrietta, NY. before moving here to Chemung. A couple of years ago made a cradle for it and put it up on locking wheels. This way I can roll it around easier to make the cuts. Most likely, one of the most used pieces of equipment in the shop.
Harbor Freight 1/2 Inch Floor Model Drill Press.
Got this in about 2003. Had it in my basement in Henrietta, NY. before moving down here to Chemung.
NAPA 120V MIG Welder.
Had this given to me by my son-in-law Beamer Guzzardi. I was looking into getting a welder and he had this one that he was not using, so he gave it to me. It needed some repair. I finally put in a new wire feed guide tube in the gun, a co2 regulator and some other little parts and got it working again. Works great on 1/8 inch steel. Have not tried it on sheet metal yet.
July 2014. Got a Harbor Freight welding table to weld on.
Harbor Freight 4 Inch Belt and 8 Inch Disk Sander.
Got this in about 2003 also. Had it in the basement when I was in Henrietta, NY. before moving to Chemung.
Simple 24 Inch Sheet Metal Brake.
Nov, 2014. Building the lock down plate for the metal brake.
Dec, 2014. Made a sheet metal brake from an article in Machinist's Workshop. It was titled "A simple sheet metal brake" by Ron Geppert from the August/September 2014 issue. I think it is only good for 20 Ga steel.
