Jan, 2020. Well, started off the year by making a jig to hold the journal boxes to mill the front cover area.
Then the weather turned warmer, so got out and took pipe clamps and straightened the rail out. Still need to do a little filing on the rail head, re-gauge and screw it back down.
Continued on with cleaning the Lil-gasser parts and putting primer on them.
Got the frame and drive system down in the basement workshop and started to look at doing the conversion to electric.
Also, decided to make a roller bender out of wood to bend 1" aluminum angle to used as guard rail. Did not work very well.
Then got back to milling the journal box cover areas. Plus drilled the mounting holes.
Finally tried to drill out some lamp finials to make classification light. Does not work so well on a drill press. Walked out of alignment. Will do later on the mill where I can hold them right.

Feb, 2020. Decided that I needed a metal roller bender. So, found one on YouTube and started to make one.
Then, filed the covers to mate with the journal boxes.
Finally, continued on with cleaning parts and primering.

Mar, 2020. Continued on with making the metal roller bender. Got the bearing for it and installed them.
Then back to the journal boxes and covers. Drilled the cross hole and installed the cotter pins. Had to redo a couple of them.
Finally, started to figure out where to install the electric motor in the Lil-gasser frame. I think it will work out fine by making the chain drive go down to the drive motor instead of going up like before.

April, 2020. Figured out that I need spacers under the motor mounts to clear things on the other end of the motor. So, made up some 1/16" spacers and installed the motor.
Then, finished up the journal box covers.
Next, cut the threads on the journal box studs and the bolster box end studs.
Then, fitted up the chain drive. Had to take about 4 links out. Tested out the drive with a drill battery. Runs all OK, but might need a chain tensioner. Made up a chain tensioner out of some 1 1/2" round nylon stock. cut recesses on each side for skate board bearings. Put together on a 2" long 5/16-18 hex head bolt. Located a spot for it on the side frame, drilled and machined a slot for it. Installed and tensioned the chain. Tested with the drill battery and looks good.
Finished up by removing everything off the Lil-gasser frame. Took the two under frame tanks off and sanded down the outside diameters of the end caps, on the belt sander, to fit to the outside diameter of the cylinders. Then filled in the gaps with epoxy. Will sand the epoxy down after it hardens up. Then took the frame to the car wash and cleaned it all up with high pressure water and soap.
